Archbishop Tobin Named Indy's Irish Citizen of the Year & St. Pat's Day Parade Grand Marshal

The Most Reverend Joseph W. Tobin, Archbishop of Indianapolis, was elected as Indy’s 2016 Irish Citizen of the Year and Grand Marshal for the Indy Sports Foundation’s 36th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Presented by the Hoosier Lottery taking place in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday, March 17th at 11:30am. 

 

Archbiship Tobin was appointed the Archbishop of Indianapolis by Pope Benedict XVI on October 18, 2012. A Detroit native, Archbishop Tobin was born May 3, 1952 and is the oldest of 13 children. He was ordained an archbishop on October 9, 2010 in St. Peter’s Basilica of Rome.

 

As part the Irish Citzen of the Year tradition, Archbiship Tobin will green the Canal on Wednesday, March 16th at 5:00pm to kick-off St. Patrick’s Day in Indy, participate as the Grand Marshal at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday, March 17th and start the 25th Anniversary of the Shamrock Run & Walk on Saturday, March 19th.
